I'm getting all my top teeth removed. I hate the after bit. The dumbness will take a while to go. Then because I will have no teeth at all it's going to feel much different to having 1 or 2 out. My speech will be odd. I feel very self conscious and embarrassed.

If I have it done on a school day . Couple of the mums might talk to me. I don't want to talk not even a hello . I want to be silent. Plus the buses would be very busy at that time. Could get a uber I guess.

When home I will have 4 kids to bug me again I don't want to talk . I don't want them to bug me. And even if I say small things to them. They will say what , pardon, can I have, can't hear you . I don't want to talk to anyone.

Or I (may that's a big may) be able to get dd who's 14 to watch the younger ones at the start of the school holidays . Have it done then I have 5 weeks or so to heal before school starts again but of course i will still have the kids bugging me as soon as I'm home.

The last choice if I can get the appointment slot I Need. Is to do it towards the end of the school holidays as the kids are away for 4 days with their father. But it's Friday to Monday so that only really leaves me to go on the Saturday. Then they are back on the Monday then back to school a few days later.

Please note I can't get any childcare or Amy school mum help.

In a nut shell: dribble at home
Or dribble at school and home. But have more healing time.

Or wait till kids on holiday but less healing time

I really feel for you. It must feel like a huge thing, but can I reassure you that nobody else will notice half as much as you think they will. When you’re out, wear a covid mask and say you’ve mostly lost your voice. Your children love you, so they won’t care if you temporarily don’t sound like yourself. I think you should pick the time which suits you best and not worry about anyone else. And keep your eye on the prize of your new teeth!

You are very courageous. Go ahead and do it now and get it over with. You can always wear a face mask in public and say you have a bad cold.

The important thing is to take care of yourself. Forget what people think . People are only interested in themselves anyway. Good luck OP.

I can't wear a mask. Plus I would need to keep wiping my dribble 😅. I knlw tje kids don't actually care. But it's physically annoying as well.

What about after the surgery day- will you have no top teeth!?

I had one from tooth removed and had a denture fitted the same day

It's was awfully painful due the extractions. I went to work the next day but two days later I bailed and had the rest of the week off.

Why can you wear a mask - I did for a bit whilst it was healing and before I could wear the denture .

I will be given temporary dentures. But I won't cope well with the removal of the teeth plus dentures the same day. It's to much for me to manage . So basically no top teeth for a few days or so.

I can't wear a mask I burn up . I get very hot and i constantly cough and get breathless it's awful
