Vacuum cleaner recommendations??

Moving house soon and as we currently have all wooden flooring I tend to sweep 90% of time, our hoover is rubbish and I only use it on the stairs

House we move to has a lot of carpet (although this will be going eventually but not for a whole)

Looking for a decent hoover, preferably upright that it not ridiculously priced

We have a dog as well so need to consider that (he only has short fine hair )

Been looking online but no idea what wattage or anything!

I have wood flooring except stairs and landing, and a double coated large hairball of a dog. I sweep but need a hoover for the carpeted bits and for extracting tumble weed from the furniture (she sheds a LOT)
I have a Henry Stick hoover. Rechargeable, and it has bags not a filter (which I prefer as I hate cleaning filters and emptying them)

It's fab. It practically sucks the carpet off the stairs!
