Indoor family entertainment Newcastle

Random but thought people might know. Find myself needing to go to a meeting in Newcastle unexpectedly next week (of course no childcare available now - mine have broken up).

Plan is for us all to go and my parents to meet me and kids there and take them off for the day. I am not familiar with the city at all. What could my parents take a 5 and 7yo to?? Must be walkable from train station and indoors as forecast is appalling.

The discovery museum is always great for a few hours with the kids!

Cat cafe and dog cafe.

Centre for Life is quite near Central Station. Loads of hands on science stuff for kids of all ages to do and a planetarium.

Discovery museum is walkable and free. Life science centre costs but is next door to train station. Hancock museum is a natural history museum. Baltic modern art gallery is free, interesting, and a big building with amazing views from the top.

Hugesunflower · 07/07/2024 16:35

Centre for life would be my top choice followed by Discovery.

Madagascar the Musical is on at Theatre Royal

Centre for Life & Discovery Museum close to the station.

Walk down to Quayside - Baltic usually has activities on for kids. Then onto Ouseburn - Farm & Seven Stories.

Go to Fenwick’s (big department store) and take them to the Toy Floor. It’s amazing 🤩

Boredmum24 · 07/07/2024 16:39

What everyone that's said centre for life is 5 minutes walk from the station. Discovery museum isn't far away

Sewsew0 · 07/07/2024 16:42

You've had some good suggestions already. Another option is bowling at Lane 7 which is between the discovery museum and central station.

Ahhh thank you so much everybody 🙏🙏. So many good options!

I normally love going into a city for events/meetings as I get to have a little shop (we live in middle of nowhere now) Was gutted this came up in the hols, but looks like they’ll be entertained all day - result!
