DH and I had been dating a few years and booked a holiday to Egypt. I have no idea how/why, but MIL also booked. Separate room thank fully. FIL stayed at home.
- Her and FIL have travelled extensively, and kept telling me how worldy she was.
- We did a hot air balloon ride. Mid air, she said she was terrified of heights, and only came because she thought she could see INSIDE the tombs from there!
- She argued about all the 'foreign' food. Houmous, kebabs etc and asked the waiter for a ham and pineapple pizza. I reminded her that the restaurant was halal, and not a . Then ensued a rant about how much travelling she had done, and that halal was only in Israel.
- Every day she got annoyed that we wanted to explore Luxor and why didn't we sunbake with her by the pool
- Each to their own, but she clearly didn't shave or trim any body hair which was very evident bursting out of her swimsuit
- DH and I were going to the local souk/shops and she decided to come too. I suggested she might want to put some clothes on (she was just in a swimsuit). She put on short-shorts. That's it. No bra, just a swimsuit and short shorts. She then wondered why everyone in the town were staring at her.
DH and I have been married over 20yrs now, but we've never taken MIL on holiday ever again.
