It's 3.30am. Why are you awake?

I have a vomiting toddler, bless her. She's gone back to sleep now but every time I try to sleep I have very dramatic sleep paralysis sort of episodes where I feel like my soul is leaving my body and I'm dying! I'm too scared to go back to sleep now 😬

So why are the rest of you up at this hour?

I'm three hours ahead but I've been awake since 3am UK time, 6am here. Dog woke me up barking at midnight and 1am. He came up and slept in my room as I really don't need that on the hour all night. Hardly knew he was there until 6am when as I got out of bed he crouched and shit on the rug. I guess the barking might have been 'I have an upset tummy and need a poo, please take me for a walk in the middle of the night'. Five minutes later and we would have been out of the door and he could have pooped anywhere except on my rug.

Dog. Barking. Mine unfortunately so I'm sat down here with her for the duration. Next door have family with a dog visiting which has unsettled her but this is no o'clock in the morning to inflict barking on the world so we are having a hot sugary tea together. At least I am having the tea and she is now snoozing on my foot.

adviceatthislatestage · 07/07/2024 04:40

Sorry to everyone in pain, dealing with sick toddlers, suffering from insomnia or clearing up cat puke.

Mine is a less stressful reason- am off to Dubrovnik with DD and our flight is at 6am.

Currently MNing while waiting for gate to be called.

CoastalCalm · 07/07/2024 04:43

Have developed annoying habit of waking as soon as it gets light outside

garlictwist · 07/07/2024 04:45

I feel like I'm going to explode with panic. I'm not even sure why.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 07/07/2024 04:45

My toddler has a bad cough. He's settled now but he's in with me and I'm worried about him rolling out of the bed.

I'm buying a bed guard tomorrow!

ilostmyhearttoastarshiptrouper · 07/07/2024 04:45

I've been up most of the night working. Loads to do. Always loads to do. Feeling very depressed at the moment as I work so so hard and am being put through hell by a boss who has no idea and seems out to get me. Colleagues all rate me highly- I love my job and deep down know I'm good at it but my boss seemingly doesn't agree.

TowerStork · 07/07/2024 04:47

Despite the frustrations, it's lovely to read about the love and care for babies, toddlers, and teens. I'm just awake because I fell asleep early while putting my toddler to bed.

Ipadannie · 07/07/2024 04:54

@garligarlictwist I get that. Woke up with that horrible feeling and heart racing. I'm blaming my age and all the life shit that's going on.

TheSproutOfWrath · 07/07/2024 05:07

Worst sore throat and temperature ever. After examination in the mirror I am diagnosing strep throat .

I feel like I'm going to explode with panic. I'm not even sure why.

Deep breaths. Has this happened before for you?

MintyCedric · 07/07/2024 05:28

Anxious DD - she was caught in the crossfire of a pub fight and injured a few weeks ago. First night out since last night and in a bit of a state when I picked her up…combined with pain from a pulled hamstring on my part.
currently in the bath waiting for the painkillers to kick in.

imgonnalooseit · 07/07/2024 05:31

AutumnBride · 07/07/2024 05:31

I'm in a medical menopause, this is a new thing being wide awake at 4am, I'm usually fighting to wake up.

Decided to get up and watch YouTube and scroll Mumsnet with a cup of tea and leave DP to sleep. He'll be awake soon.

Jennalong · 07/07/2024 05:34

Read this post when it was posted and still awake now.
DH is snoring his head off , and I'm full of anxiety due to upcoming building work , and ongoing , life changing illness and worrying about a pip follow up interview due to first time applying .

PieonaBarm · 07/07/2024 06:32

DH snoring like a blocked drain trying to drain water. Loudly. Been out with his friends, one who's recently bereaved, so they took him out for the football, came in at 2:40, woke me up saying hello, turned every light on, ate some crisps, got into bed and has snored constantly for 4 hours since despite plenty of kicks from me. Seems to have stopped now so might be able to get a couple more hours myself.

Can't be too mad, he's been out with his friends (they are a genuinely good bunch) for the right reason.

pastapestoparmesan · 07/07/2024 06:50

I’ve been awake most of the night - stomach cramps, D and V, shivers and sweats. Think it’s Covid most likely.

dottydodah · 07/07/2024 07:06

Bloody Chemo innit! Had 1 1/2 hours in all.wish I had seen this in the wee small hours .Starting Melatonin next week so here hoping ,I get a few good nights then wham! Sooo annoying ! had reall good day too DS birthday had lunch out, then on a high and couldnt switch off

gleefulstar · 07/07/2024 09:06

I was awake then because my DD decided to text me to tell me how bad she was feeling with her Covid. Aching teeth apparently. Was awake for a good two hours so feeling a bit tired this morning. She, of course, is still asleep 🤦🏼‍♀️
