Has anyone recently lost luggage with ba? An you help me understand what is happening?

So we arrived at a fairly remote airport without a ba rep there. All bags did not turn up. The airport filled in relevant form for us.

the airport told us once bags located should arrive later tonight and be delivered tomorrow morning. I have been checking the baggage tracking and it still just says they are trying to locate bags. So no further update. The flight they should have been put on has now left. Are ba just not good at updating the tracking info? Or does the fact that it still says “trying to locate bags” mean our bags are still lost. Just trying to work out likelihood of our bags being here with us tomorrow morning

They either will be or won't. No point in worrying because you can't do anything but stare at a screen but it probably won't tell you if your bags are on there. Some people use Apple air tags to track/locate their luggage

@Grest did you manage to get your luggage back? What happened? I am going through the same just now :(

From memory you can claim to replace essential items if not returned within 24 hours — toiletries, PJs, underwear, change of clothes so keep all your receipts. And keep on at them so they don’t locate your bags, put them in a cupboard or whatever and forget about them.

Ah - lucky you! We are coming upto 72hrs and not heard a peep.

As long as you completed all the paperwork they will turn up. It took 5 days for mine. Keep all receipts, you can claim back the cost of replacement clothes and toiletries up to a certain (not very generous) amount.

For next time you travel, we always swap a few basic items in case one suitcase goes missing, and I always have a change of clothes in my carry on.

We flew with BA in January and they couldn't get our bags on the connecting flight quick enough 🤦🏼‍♀️ got to us about 24hrs later as well... Not before I'd worked myself into a right tizz also due to the lack of updates on their list baggage info!

Yes more updates would be better. The tracking info just kept saying they were “trying to locate bags” even about 30 mins before they were delivered to us. So we just thought they were still lost
