This is a dodgy mole isn't it

Well I've got 3 actually
Skin vision said the second one looks like cancerous images and to contact my gp which I have. But since then I've noticed the one on my stomach is even more dodgy looking !
Does melanoma always cause symptoms? I have no itchyness or anything.

The first one I thought had just got bigger due to two babies in less than two years but now I'm convinced I have skin cancer

Lots of moles look dodgy... I've had a couple that looked worse, so of course they were removed for biopsy and turned out to be benign.
No one can tell you from a photo, go to the doctor and have them looked at properly. If they're at all in doubt they'll get them biopsied (trivial procedure).

Nobody on here can tell you - you need to go to your GP and request a mole check.

I'm covered in weird moles and my GP is always more than happy to check any that I'm concerned about. I was actually there about an odd one a couple of weeks ago and he checked all of them for me. It only took a few minutes and was well worth it for the peace of mind.

He also recommended I go back for a check once a year as I have so many that it's impossible to keep track of them all myself.

I have tons of moles and they both look completely normal to me.

RedHelenB · 06/07/2024 14:03

Get it checked but just on the photos I can't see what you're worrying about.

Lots of moles are like that, it doesn't mean cancer. They're known as dysplastic nevi and are incredibly common/normal.

Has it changed recently?

ohthejoys21 · 06/07/2024 14:11

I would 100% get this checked as you are, but also put your name down for last minute cancellations.

worryingmole · 06/07/2024 14:15

I would say it's changed as it's got bigger but as I said earlier I put that down to my belly stretching with two pregnancies in such a small amount of time

You're doing the right thing getting them looked at, hopefully the clinic can put your mind at rest :)

sarahc336 · 06/07/2024 14:28

Hi op yes get them looked at but I know a lot of people myself included that have had dodgy looking moles looked at and they've been totally fine. I had one removed as it was quite large so was preventative. No one in here can tell you for sure but i know the questions they asked me when they checked mine were was it bleeding at all or sore. But always best to get one checked if it gets bigger or very irregular but even then mine were fine good luck

worryingmole · 06/07/2024 15:36

Thank you. I suppose googling doesn't help either ! My appointment is the 16th so not too far away

HalebiHabibti · 06/07/2024 15:38

I've been checked a few times and the only one which was properly dodgy was the itchy one.

Pebbles16 · 06/07/2024 16:03

I had a dodgy mole a few months ago, was put on the two week pathway. Had the examination, photos, biopsy/removal all done in a couple of hours. It was a basal cell carcinoma but now all treated and a very neat little scar.
Good luck with the appointment. Even if it dodgy, the treatment can be easy (although appreciate not for everyone).

AndSoFinally · 06/07/2024 16:08

The look of a mole isn't much of a giveaway unless it's changed recently

They're much more interested in itching, bleeding, if it's sore, if it crusts, that kind of thing

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 06/07/2024 17:34

Nobody here can diagnose it.
