Can I have an arse kick please

My kitchen is a shithole again . I Need to clean it. I have been having a word with myself but I'm not listening.

I have taken a Shame picture because it often shames me into doing it.

Also does this mess come under the normal bracket of a messy kitchen or is it beyond that

Can I have an arse kick please

I was expecting a real disaster. That's no issue at all, op. Focus for 15 minutes and job done.

Fizzadora · 06/07/2024 13:31

Jesus that's about 10 minutes work tops. Just bloody get on with it.

You're being viciously critical of yourself. That makes everything worse. Have a look at Kristin Neff's work on self-compassion.

I wish my kitchen looked like yours. Mine is a genuine pit of shit. Possibly 20x worse.

It's not a truly critical. It's more of a telling off 🤣

My kitchen when it's tidy looks fifty times more chaotic than that. My cabinets are falling apart and are from 1982. The whole room is cluttered with stuff, on surfaces and floor. Utter crap hole.
So please be assured yours looks like it needs maybe a few minutes cleaning to me! I'm not a pig, it's just I can't afford a new kitchen btw.

Sorry @Shithole101 my post was genuinely meant to be light hearted, I thought from your previous posts you were a long time MNer returned after a NC but maybe I'm getting you mixed up with someone else. I genuinely wanted to cheer you up not kick you!

Stealth boasting on MN is where people say things like "how can I decorate this tiny bedroom" and then show a massive immaculate room with a a king size bed" sort of thing, or "I only have limited disposable income after bills this month, I'm really worried" then drip feed their "limited" is £2000 - that kind of thing.

I just genuinely meant your kitchen is absolutely nowhere near "shithole" level (and you really do need to change your name btw!) It's a lovely kitchen, and to me that's a really minimal amount of "mess", I wouldn't even class it as mess, just stuff that needs to be put away or in the bin, if that makes sense? Just daily living.

You've done amazingly with your house. Be proud of it. Honestly.

Oh no you have me right. Kind of. In a much better place compared to several months months back. But I could slip back . So I like to try and kick butt before it gets to that.

I actually have a superking... all to myself 🤣
I do wish I have more disposable income 😭

I have a fan thing fitted in the ceiling. It's manky I don't know how I cam clean it

If it helps, your kitchen is miles better than mine and the kitchen is the best place in this shit hole!
You need to wear shoes to avoid hurting your feet in this place…..

I'm looking for a new hoover thinking about a cordless one . I don't know if it would be good in my house though.

@Shithole101

i think maybe one with a cord is better, leave it plugged in & you can't lose it!! 😂😂

Your kitchen was not a shit tip, it's a decent size too. Mine is tiny 🥲

Do the floor first thing tomorrow & then post an after picture.

As I've said to you before Dana K White us brilliant, but you can only lead the horse to water....

Anyway, one of her 'things' is Do Dishes Daily. Once you done the dishes (loaded the dishwasher) you feel so much better & it leads you into putting the other bits away.

Hope you've got something nice planned for tomorrow (after mopping the floor!)

vipersnest1 · 06/07/2024 22:12

@Shithole101, I've read your previous thread.
This is very doable and you are on it.
I get why you are anxious not to slip back to your old days, but give yourself a break - seriously.
Sit yourself down now and relax for a while. Flowers

UtterlyOtterly · 06/07/2024 22:14

Brilliant work OP, sometimes it is hard to get motivated.

What struck me though wasn't the mess, which looked very normally to me, but you have that wide windowsill and I wondered if you had any plants?

I kind of have my pattern of what I do . Its just i get tired quickly. And I have alot on my mind etc .

I was thinking about a cordless hoover just for the ground floor . Then just getting 2 cheap corded for the other 2 floors. Think about it 😅

I'm sorry if you have suggested people/things in the past. Things do pass me . Apologies

I had an orkid and I snapped the stem off ny accident. I love them so much. So I need to get a new one.

I need to get a new blind . I'm thinking about the no drill type but not sure

Aww, that's sad about your plant. Maybe treat yourself to a new one.

I don't know anything about no drill blinds but I guess they work?

Actually orchids take a fair bit of abuse and it would have grown another stem. Happier generally in bathrooms though
