Anyone had any luck with mum groups and random facebook meets?

I'm at home with baby and toddler, all my friends are happily child free and enjoying the benefits that brings. Travel, day drinking, not spending their lives in kids parks and dusty church halls... not jealous at all... okay maybe a little lol

I'd love some mum friends but feel like a sad sack on these Facebook groups for "mum social" or "anyone want to meet a complete stranger mum in the park with our kids and hope we hit it off even though the only thing we have in common is we've reproduced"

Has anyone had any luck with these things? Not talking about classes more the random "I need friends" Facebook stuff

Classes are a tough one. I am friendly and will always chat to the person beside me but then we all just go our separate ways. Or everyone seems to know each other and I get a nice smile and nod before they return to talking about whatever they were before.

I feel a little embarrassed to have no mum friends and to want them badly. Like I'm the child who no one invites to parties lol any advice or positive stories?

I met my best friends on netmums. Started out on a birth month group and splintered off into an "anyone from X town" thread. From there about 15 of us met up with the babies. About 8 of us continued to meet up regularly while on mat leave. 9 years later 3 of them are my closest friends although we don't see each other as much now. One them works with me now and our DD's are in the same class too.
