Any advice, DS away for a couple of weeks day 1 panic attack

DS with 2 friends travelling for a ciuple of weeks europe. Day 1 and just text me having a panic attack, anxious, wants to come home, feeling scared. He's had a few ups and downs lately...broken up with GF etc.

Ive told him to breathe calmly, drink water, try and sleep tonight and even mention to his friends how he's feeling. They move on in a couple of days to another country.

Any other advice?

What caused it? Was there some immediate stressor in the environment?

He just said I dont like being away from home, it's too busy, I want to come home.

They have just got off the metro and walk back to hotel so put his phone away. Im waiting for an update.

He is a bit of a home bird as in this country...last year went on a lads break to majorca and same thing he hated it and panicked and wanted to come home...but that was 1sy lads hol abroad and he's not a drinker and obvs all his mates wanted to do that every night. So thos holiday with different people is more of a travelling, adventure holiday which is his thing.

But just very panicky about it all and wanting to come home.

He might want to take some time to himself tomorrow, doing something solo and soothing? I know when I got a bit overwhelmed when interrailing with friends, I used to take myself off to an art gallery by myself.

Just 19. Very independant but just having a wobble. Im hoping once he calms diwn, hopefully sleeps then does some activities tomorrow he will be a bit calmer but he's saying he wants to come home Sunday.

Im not saying anything about that will try and encourage him to stay but he'll have to sort his own flight back etc if he does come back I cant stand the stress of that

I think he should tell his 2 friends for support but he wont.
