Time again for the feeling sorry for the germs down my toilets vs the bleach

Time for another batshit crazy thread 😁

Similar scenario. Ran out of bleach last Sunday but my shopping has now been delivered and I now have bleach.

All those lil germies that have made home down both my loo's the last week are gonna get bleached tonight but I kinda feel sorry for those lil buggers again.

This thread descended into a wonderful wacky thread of feeling sorry for the grape that drops on the floor, feeling sorry for the daisies under the lawnmower, feeling sorry for stinging nettles, etc last time. Let's have another batshit crazy thread! Or maybe we can give names to the germs down my toilets before I bleach them?

@Emily1583
I went back at regular intervals and sucked up the stragglers 😬

locket2009 · 05/07/2024 22:47

I feel sorry for the pegs in the peg basket that don't make it into the washing line when I peg the washing out ! Like they will feel
Inadequate 😆

The worse thing of all is if the local scrap man/ builder etc has an old teddy strapped to the front of their van, all tatty and sad and tortured. Can't bear seeing them.

I had to replace my mop head today, I now have a shiny new one that looks out of place in my life to be honest, I felt sorry for the old fella, I feel like there needs to be some kind of retirement home for those objects that serve us well but that are now ready to put their feet up after years of faithful service, but as it happens I did say sorry to Mr Mop head and then threw him in the bin, I felt like I used and abused him then tossed him to one side when a younger fresher model came along! I’m a bad person!

Fordian · 05/07/2024 22:52

Sweet, genuinely.

But ask the men in your lives if they've ever felt sorry for a sheared plant that tries to regrow; an old teaspoon; a traded in, dying car...

🤔

Emily1583 · 05/07/2024 22:55

The downstairs toilet has been bleached. Sorry germies.

Oooh that was indeed a murderous act. Least they are together.

Oh just find an excuse to peg all the pegs to extra secure the clothes isn't it.

Yeah especially if it were once a child's teddy. Forever exposed to the elements and being sped down the road.

There's always one bean at the bottom of the can that just won't shake out isn't there. Left by itself.

Oh god the beans are the worst.

They’ve all been on the entire journey together, the whole experience from the canning (where probably a couple didn’t make it and they watched them die, cut in half by the mechanism) all through the shipping to the store etc., months where they all got to know each other, built a little community with friendships and dramas and falling out, moving round the tin to be next to their friends, talking excitedly about what it would be like when they finally went ‘over the top’.

And then in the end it all happens so fast with a blinding light and then there’s one left, one or two, and I imagine them just screaming or perhaps too shocked to react. Left behind at the very very end and into the dark bin, never knowing what it was like to go through the final step!

😨

I feel sorry for the slugs that somehow find themselves ending up in my bathroom or kitchen. I keep empty toilet rolls so I can scoop them up and pop them back outside again. I felt even more sorry for the one in my kitchen last night that I stepped on with my bare foot. I noticed it had started slithering across the floor again so I scooped it up and apologised for stepping on it and put it outside. Nothing gets killed in this house. I think at the moment I have at least 4 spiders in my bedroom. One I know is about 2 feet away from my head, 2 were on the ceiling last time I looked and I think one is right in the corner of the skirting boards

This. They are all together. They need to stay together. Even the bean skin bits at the bottom. They need to be scraped out and be put altogether.

Yeah slugs definitely get bad press compared to snails. Some people, the good people, generally seem to be more considerate around snails but slugs generally get a harsher deal I feel. And do slugs look at snails enviously that they carry a home around with them?

Strawberrypicnic · 05/07/2024 23:51

Haha this thread is great and reading it after a glass of wine has almost made me feel a bit tearful!

It reminds me of a tiktok I saw the other day where a girl had a drawer with spare kitchen rolls. Four of them were lined up together along one side of the drawer and there was one on its own on the other side. When she went to get one out, she removed one of the four-in-a-row and switched the lone one into the row so it would have chance to be with its friends for a while.

DontThinkJustDo · 06/07/2024 00:15

I felt sad when I threw my faithful dog-walking bag in the bin. It had dutifully carried poobags for years, it was part of our pack. I can still picture it sat on top of the bin all tatty and rejected.

I felt even worse when I found out after the binmen had been that it had my spare car key in it.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 06/07/2024 00:49

@Emily1583 i always say a slug is just a snail without a home. Obviously I know they're not and most people hate them but they still feel pain when people chuck salt all over them

thaegumathteth · 06/07/2024 01:04

Dd had nits bloody non stopfor months as I was brushing them all out she said 'mummy where will the nits live now?'
'Oh this kills them'
'Whaaaaaaat?????? Even the babies?'

Felt like a monster!

😁 never considered that poor pebbles that get separated from the other pebbles on the beach from being skimmed into the sea.
