Do you recognise yourself?

On holiday trying my best to avoid photos but a lovely lady took one of our little family. Looking at it I don’t recognise myself at all. I’ve thought for a while I take a bad photo these days but since turning 40 I’ve changed completely.
I can’t quite place why - no wrinkles or too much drooping. Same hair style . A bit of weight gain but I look completely different .
is this what post 40 is? If so I'm ugly in my old age 😂

Bless you, 40 is nothing- you wait until you see the photo on your bus pass- I really don't know the old woman on mine!

I'm like@Daleksatemyshed . I catch sight of myself in a shop window and it's not the same person I feel inside. But it's not all bad, I quite like getting older 😃

I’m in my thirties but two kids in and I feel the same

I'm always horrified by photos of myself. I think I've managed to convince my brain that I still look 21 and am a size 10. Then I look at photos and realise I'm fat and over forty...I avoid cameras like the plague now

Me too!

I feel similarly, the person in the mirror has changed and its almost making my view of myself change... as I've lost facial volume I look tired and pissed off and I don't want to look like that! It's hard to accept but guess we have to find a way to!

Exactly this, you have unfortunately put my thoughts into words :(

Op I remember someone taking a photo of me on holiday with my dd in my early forties and I thought I looked hideous.

Then I saw it fifteen years later when I was decluttering and I couldn't really work out what was so awful!

Also, don't be like me and always volunteer to take family photos as a way of avoiding the camera. You will cherish that picture of you with your DC in later years when they have fled the nest I promise!

@ArcticBells there's two good things- I still don't feel old inside and can still give as good as I get, on the other hand, the school kids now see me as like their Gran and let me get on the bus first 😂

This is exactly my problem. I hate being in photos but I have so few of my mum (now deceased) and what some for them.
