Firstly... I'm not going to complain about the reason. Other people are having a far worse day

But I'm hungry, bored, tired and thecevent I'm supposed to be attending starts in 45 mins

So to entertain me... anyone got any bad travel stories

Are you next to anyone to stinks? I’ve had that before.

is there a catering trolley you can get snacks from?

Campestris · 05/07/2024 18:53

That's a bad one. Make sure you get a full refund via delay repay.

PuttingDownRoots · 05/07/2024 18:54

I did get to sit next to an adorable dog for a couple of hours.

Unfortunately no catering... and even if they were this train is all the people whove bern chucked off other trains as ours terminated early.

I was on a train that was cancelled mid-route a while back. I got off and got on another train going the same way. I got to my destination an hour late - plus I had to change how I travelled on from there.

Thought it was worth claiming Delay Repay on. Very surprised when the full return cost was refunded. Worth a go?

OttersAreMySpiritAnimal · 05/07/2024 18:57

I don't travel well, especially on pendolino trains. I once travelled for an event and felt so sick by the time I arrived that I just went immediately to the hotel and to bed. Got up the next morning and went straight home again. Complete waste of time.
Another time I went to Rome for a conference, again got very travel sick, missed most of it, saw nothing of the city, and flew home again a day later.

Figgygal · 05/07/2024 18:57

Eurgh what's the reason for the delay?
Definitely get your delay repay compensation

Lengokengo · 05/07/2024 18:59

I was standing up once for 3 hours on a rammed service. You literally couldn’t move as there were people in all the corridors and you had to brace yourself against the train movements. That was grim. I couldn’t read ( this was long before phones), and it was dark outside. So whilst it wasn’t delayed, it was awful in every other way.

Useruserdoubleuser · 05/07/2024 19:01

Are you going to make the event? How much do you care?

The older I get the more I can’t be bothered doing stuff. Thanks for confirming that.

PuttingDownRoots · 05/07/2024 19:02

Definitely claiming ticket back.

There were problems earlier near Durham.

I feel your pain as have been caught in the same delays today. Fortunately I am now only 5 minutes from my home station, only 2 hours 20 mins late

I'll make it but be late. Fortunately I'm a quick changer!

Theres a free bar so definitely worth the trouble after today!
