Mask Wearing

mummyh2016 · 05/07/2024 12:59

Just had a message from my GP surgery saying 'we have received guidance to revert to mask wearing and hand sanitising'.
Anyone else heard anything like this coming in again elsewhere?
I'm in Staffordshire.

No. And I've just spent all week with my mum on a cancer ward in a huge hospital. No one wore masks.

MonsteraMama · 05/07/2024 13:06

Nope, as above, family member has been in ICU for a month and no masks worn.

My dentist still asks people to though, but they never stopped.

I'd be surprised if people adhere to it. They barely did the first time when we were having the fear of god put into us about Covid death rates, I doubt they will now that its being treated more or less like the common flu or cold.

Must be difficult for the dentist to look in your mouth if you have a mask on.

They've probably had an outbreak amongst the staff and are trying to suppress it/not infect patients in case they have it without knowing yet.

I’m in France atm and everyone is wearing masks in the pharmacies in this area; both customers and the pharmacists alike. You have to do so in order to be served.

SwingingVoter · 05/07/2024 13:13

How odd op have you asked them why? Maybe it's whopping cough or something other than covid?

Moier · 05/07/2024 13:14

No .. and currently I'm in a private hospital.

@mummyh2016 pretty sure I heard on the radio that hospitals in Staffordshire have high numbers of covid and have brought masks back. That will be why your GP surgery is doing the same.

DinnaeFashYersel · 05/07/2024 13:15

They can away and raffle themselves

JustforAlice · 05/07/2024 13:32

Several hospitals in the UK have bought mask rules back over the last week.

JohnTheRevelator · 05/07/2024 17:13

No,not heard this. On the contrary actually. I phoned my doctor's surgery this morning regarding a repeat prescription, and after just over 4 years, they have finally dropped the recorded message about not attending the surgery if you have any covid symptoms and wearing a mask if you do attend the surgery.

mummyh2016 · 05/07/2024 17:49

@CurbsideProphet ahhh okay thanks, I hadn't heard anything. They did follow it up with a message saying they're unable to supply masks at present, I don't even know where sells masks now so I can't see how this is going to work!

I work in a medical centre. Covid hospitalisation was up by 24% last week. Whooping cough and measles are also very high.
