According to ds' clients' briefing notes, Basildon & Billericay should've declared at about 12.15. Robert Holden had a majority of over 20k. The fact that it hadn't declared yet suggests he might have lost it! Grin

BBC reporting that it is too close to call.

Nadine has disappeared. I think they had to take her outside and throw a bucket of cold water over her.

🤣

They did say that Nads would be back later

I used to live in Guildford too and they've often gone LD - always surprised me T Wells wasn't as progressive until now. I have to say a lot of my friends in both areas have kids in private school so were always unlikely to vote for Labour on that alone plus most voted remain, so LD gave them a good option at least. I also think it has held LD to higher analysis of policies (both areas will happily engage with a fool who dares to turn up on their doorstep to fight a point), which has worked well nationally.

The BBC is definitely underplaying Labour's achievement.

dontcallmelen · 05/07/2024 01:12

Saying on Chanel four Yvette Cooper possibly in trouble really hope that’s not the case although I think she had quite a small majority.

It’s a new seat, isn’t it? Border changes.

Evenstar · 05/07/2024 01:13

Richard Holden aka Billericay Dickie did a “chicken run” from the North East to Billericay after a boundary change meant it was no longer a safe seat. The constituency party in Essex had a selection process underway with local candidates and they were very angry and went to campaign in a neighbouring constituency in protest.

Wow, really? Exit poll has it possible Labour hold with 83% likelihood.

Saying now that it’s likely to be ok for her. All rumour and conjecture though.

The size of the Reform vote in the back to Red Wall is depressing Sad

Yes and no, my understanding it is actually a little down on what the exit poll suggested.

Isn’t it? It’s kind of taking the shine off a bit.

Higher turnout too. - 66%. Not great but better than most so far.

Lib Dems are claiming they have beaten Keegan in Chichester
