Have name changed

This is my driveway, that is not my car parked across the entrance 😡😡😡😡

Have left a cross but polite note on car to say don't park here

Came home from work to find it parked there. Kid across the street said it arrived after he got back from school.

Has it gone yet?

Foxxo · 04/07/2024 17:07

do you know 4 strapping blokes who could come and bounce it out the way by any chance?

GasPanic · 04/07/2024 17:07

It's weird how they parked in front of your drive but left the bit in front of the other house over the road clear.

Do you have a polling station near you ? Today a lot of people might be parking in areas they don't normally do so, and will only be there for a short amount of time.

That isn't of course an excuse ....

Gcn · 04/07/2024 17:10

It's not clear from the photo - do you have a dropped kerb?

theeyeofdoe · 04/07/2024 17:10

Write ‘do not park here’ in lipstick on the passenger window

Yes have a dropped curb

It's not the full width of the gap but they were parked over the dropped curb part

There is a polling station down the road. And when I went to vote which I did as soon as a I got back. I asked in the polling station. But it was fairly empty at the time just polling station workers and they had parked in the car park outside

@GasPanic that's the other thing. It was clear easy parking opposite.which is where most park.

Passing traffic was having issues getting past because they weren't expecting something to be parked there

That's annoying AF

That said, if they aren't blocking you in, it isn't illegal I'm afraid

Cheeky bastards though

That's the annoying thing it's just Cf parking not illegal. We've had issues where they've parked past the drive boundary but not on the drop curve. Which made things awkward but not impossible. But couldn't do anything as it's legal

Generally, it’s considered a violation of the dropped kerb regulations, which could result in a fine or even towing of the vehicle.

AmandaHoldensLips · 04/07/2024 18:08

A big handful of vaseline squelched under the driver's door handle is a beautiful thing to behold.

You could always creep out after dark and let at least one of his tyres down! Or place a nail just under the front of the wheel. I know I’m evil but I hate injustice and thoughtlessness. This chap deserves all he gets! Just don’t get caught!!

Indeed. When a dropped kerb adaptation is granted, even though it has likely been initiated by a householder wanting to access a drive, that is not the only purpose of dropped kerbs.

Easy access for wheelchair and mobility scooter users to cross roads is also baked in to the planning and permitting of dropped kerbs. This is one of the infuriatingly selfish things about people who 'only block their own dropped kerb' - it isn't just for your use.

If your driveway is blocked then the police can ticket or tow away for causing an obstruction

RomanRoysSearchHistory · 04/07/2024 19:09

🤣🤣

Although I fear my aim wouldn't be great and I'd have to scrape egg off my drive and other nearby cars

Log it with 101?

Worth remembering but doubt around here they'd actually turn up until after the owner had returned from their 2 week holiday

My uncle had this problem - was told it was a matter for council parking enforcement, not the police, and they would only take action if he was blocked in rather than blocked out of his driveway. Different forces and councils may have different approaches, though.
