Settle an eye colour debate for me please?

Had friends over last night. One commented on my eye colour. Cue friendly argument over whether my eyes are blue, grey, hazel or green. I was not involved in said drunken debate and just enjoyed watching it unfold. Mumsnet, what's your verdict?

My eyes are very similar to yours, maybe very slightly more green, and I’ve always been told they’re hazel.

BobbyBiscuits · 04/07/2024 11:01

I think hazel as it's got the brown bit in the middle then grey/green around it. Mine are green (similar to your main colour) and don't have any brown at all. It's a lovely colour anyway.

TinaMariah · 04/07/2024 11:22

To throw a spanner in. This is without flash! Not sure where they got green from. I always thought blue!

they look blue to me.

Did you photoshop or do you really have such healthy looking eyes? So white!! You have lovely eyes OP whatever the colour. I'd say greenish.

I had that conversation with pre schoolers I work with recently and one child kindly told me I have red stripes!

ChessieFL · 04/07/2024 11:28

Look blue to me in both photos.

timetobegin · 04/07/2024 11:28

Blue

Relaxd · 04/07/2024 11:30

I’d say hazel as there is a combination of mostly blue and some brown/gold. Whilst hazel is generally a combination of brown, green, and gold. You can have hazel eyes with blue and amber too,

Not photoshopped but I did choose one eye over the other as I have a small pinguecula on the other, so I have one very white eye! But thanks :)

Weirdly both my parents have dark brown eyes!

I think they are grey, with hazel by your pupil.
That means, they would look of different colours, depending on the light.
Now, from this pics, I do not see any green.

BMW6 · 04/07/2024 12:09

Predominantly blue

motherofonegirl · 04/07/2024 12:15

Grey. If they are like mine their colour appears to change in different lights from blue, to green or even hazel.

GasPanic · 04/07/2024 12:19

Mine are similar.

Grey. They change in the light. In bright light they appear blue.

I also think they get more blue when I get ill. But no science on this.

I didn't think yellow rings in your eyes was supposed to be a good sign. It can mean high cholestrol (the ones in the pic don't look too bad to me).

Likemyjealouseel · 04/07/2024 12:36

Grey, so they look green or blue depending on what you are wearing. I’ve been told that grey eyes are actually brown eyes with melanin deficiency, which makes sense with your parents’ eye colours (mine are the same).

CentralHeterochromia · 04/07/2024 12:49

Pops head round the door…

Oldraver · 04/07/2024 12:58

I would say light blue with a hazel ring

Mine are similar but darker I think

How the friggidy do you get a really good pic

I have a similar issue. All my life I thought my eyes were grey, but just lately, more and more people are saying they're blue. I leave you to judge..

I've never heard that. It's definitely unusual though. My dad is black and my mum is from Uzbekistan. They definitely didn't expect a blue eyed daughter!

"I didn't think yellow rings in your eyes was supposed to be a good sign."

As mentioned by PPs it's something called central heterochromia. It's not particularly uncommon.

I've had it since I was a toddler so unless I was born with high cholesterol I think I'm good!
