Chicken pox or Molluscum or something else 🤔

Son woke with some pale spots on face and on neck on Tuesday morning.. they have just grown and got redder and angry looking.. Doctors think Molluscum but I'm not convinced so looking for experiences.

God what a mystery OP. Have they given you any antibiotic cream or anything in the meantime?

I would also ask for a blood test to check for any issues...could be autoimmune

@Valhalla17 what would that mean/cause? Dont think they will do any more till the culture is back unfortunately. Its frustrating as he is pretty misread at the moment.

Well it can be an autoimmune disease, of which there are many. Whatever it is, I do suggest asking for a blood test too...to check any underlying issues or deficiencies.

@missom we never got an answer! It went on for around 6 weeks then cleared! Was horrible 😢

My 8 yo and has had molluscum Contagion for 2 year they keep spreading drs say they can't help. The school is concerned. Possibly thinking about taking out of school till all healed up. It's on neck, chin, chest and groin area mostly where they sweat and will get eczema like rash around them when it's hot or if they go swimming in chlorine. Any help would be great we're at wits end. Drs won't help. But going back this afternoon to get a note for school.

Aveeno Baby Daily Barrier cleared it up in my 6 year old son in weeks. There’s research which I can’t link to but the ingredients in it are proven to work. GP had told us they can’t do anything for it.

My son had molluscum for over 18 months on his side, I tried everything to no avail. The thing that got rid of them in the end was him getting chickenpox. Sorry @ThisTwinklyGoldBear ,i don't think you can take him out of school for it, it could be years!
