I've tried to Google but I'm more confused. Which is the best one for increasing ferritin levels. Mine is borderline and gp has said to buy a supplement!

Ferrous bisglycinate has better bioavailability and doesn’t cause the horrendous gastrointestinal side effects of constipation and/or diarrhoea.

I was on prescribed ferrous fumerate for years with barely any effect. My ferritin was higher after starting iron bisglycinate.

Iron tablets are also more effective if taken every other day (sounds counterintuitive but if you Google why it will explain) and taken with OJ to help absorption.

Ferrous bisglyncinate is usually more gentle on the stomach if you have trouble taking iron.

If you don’t have issues with iron, I’d go with the cheapest highest potency one you find. I’d also add in a vitamin C supplement every time you take it.

Thank you. I'll get the gentle one

I took Ferrous Sulphate to increase mine, just to throw another option into the mix. It’s worked well and the only side-effect is my poo is now very dark!
