I'm bigger than I want to be with no core muscles, however I want to give it a go, but would I be still to? Especially as in a size 14, weigh 66kg at 5ft 2

I do pole and hoop, and my DC does hoop, pole, silks & trapeze.

Aerial is a great way to get fit. There are plenty of aerialists out there of your size and bigger. I was about your size when I started, and didn't have issues at all. It wasn't until I began inverting on pole that I had any issues, but then I got fitter through doing it, and got past that. Most people don't even seem to have those issues. The aerial world is very supportive and inclusive.

I have even done some exams and competed. Just find a good studio. If the first one doesn't make you feel confident and supported, try a different one. There are also studios who have different approaches. Some studios do just aerial as sport, some do it just as sexy dancing, and others have a really good mix. Personally I like a mix of it all.

Go for it, and have fun!

Thank you so much @AerialMom there are 3 studios near me, unsure how to choose what one would be good!

I do hoops, honestly I'd say it's much better to do it as a curvy woman- the hoops can be quite sore against the bones whilst you're learning and gaining core strength so any "padding"Smile helps!

Women of all shapes and sizes at my class, weight and size doesn't make any difference.

Best decision I made going along! My strength has increased tenfold.

Thank you so much,

I might go to hoop tomorrow!

I have a 1 to 1 lesson next week for pole too.

Yes but not for ages. I'm heavy and a size 16 and can still fling myself upside down!
