Holiday clothes for teen boys

Dc are 15 and 18, both have no interest in clothes. We're going on our first hot holiday since they were much younger and I'm not sure what to get them. Does this sound like enough? I'd like to pack light!

3 x shorts
3 x t-shirts
3 x swimming shorts
Sliders.

It's Turkey in August so I can't see them needing anything warmer. Thanks

How long are you going for?

yikesanotherbooboo · 02/07/2024 20:01

How long are you going for? T/ shirts might not last very long on hot sweaty boys. I would say 2 swimming shorts would be ample. Are they likely to go out at night at all? If so do they need a pair of long trousers.
My youngest DC has no interest in clothes and has very few so I know where you are coming from.

Comedycook · 02/07/2024 20:04

Yes agree about the t shirts. My ds is 16...I take two t shirts per day for him. One to wear at breakfast and/or during the day and a fresh one for dinner.

Smartiepants79 · 02/07/2024 20:07

At least 1 shirt a day I’d think. And 1 pair of trousers.
An 18 year old really should be doing his own packing though.
My 13 year old packs herself to go away.

1newname · 02/07/2024 20:08

We're going for 7 days but we don't get there until 9pm the first day. Ok, so a couple more t-shirts each and a long pair of trousers. Chinos?

@yikyikesanotherbooboo 15 year old ds in particular wears the same clothes all the time at home, if I buy him anything different he doesn't wear it!

Nowhere near enough if going for a week
I stick with t shirts, Sliders, swim shorts and normal shorts day and night for my teen and pre teen. But although I get some new I get a lot of swim shorts and t shirts off Vinted as they like their brands and no way am I dropping £500 each on brand new gear for a fortnights holiday.
Sure they will wear the t shirts at home but the swim shorts won't be worn and never fit the following year.
But generally for two weeks I take about 12 t shirts and 5 maybe 6 pairs of normal shorts and maybe 4 or 5 swim shorts. They usually end up wearing trainers at night

Newuser75 · 02/07/2024 20:11

I would always take at least a pair of shorts and a t shirt per day. 2 swimming shorts and a couple of shirts/trousers for the evening. Sliders and a pair of trainers.

1newname · 02/07/2024 20:12

I think I object to getting too many pairs of shorts as they'll probably never wear them again!

My ds would take co-ordinating nike shorts and tshirts in all the colours for evenings. He would wear board-shorts and best tops in the day.

they will stink 7 days in turkey with just three tops and 3 shorts!

Passthecake30 · 02/07/2024 20:19

Ds would wear a clean tshirt in the evening and then wear it the following day, so one per day. 2 pairs of swimmers, a few pairs of shorts. Lots of socks (sweaty feet), trainers, flip flops, hat. Rash vest. No trousers needed, but might add a polo shirt if he feels the need to dress up (unlikely!)

PolaDeVeboise · 02/07/2024 20:37

We're just back from Turkey, with 2 x Ds (17 & 15). They each took;

Shorts x 5
T-shirts x 8
Swimmers x 2
Sliders x 1

Most of which were from Vinted, as they'll never be worn again .

1newname · 02/07/2024 20:52

@PPolaDeVeboise did you take any trousers? We're going to an all inclusive place and I'm not sure if there's a dress code....

Toomuchleopard · 02/07/2024 21:05

Turkey in August is absolutely boiling at night, I wouldn’t take any trousers. If there’s a dress code it will probably be on the hotel website but it doesn’t usually extend to children/teens anyway.

Comedycook · 02/07/2024 21:09

Unless you're going anywhere with a dress code, I wouldn't bother with trousers. We went to Spain last year and dh took trousers and it was too hot to wear them even in the evening. I imagine Turkey will be even hotter. I'd go with smart shorts instead

Lykke1000 · 02/07/2024 21:11

Just out of interest - why would they never wear them again? Also, how come they don’t already have things like t-shirts and shorts?

1newname · 02/07/2024 21:12

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling a bit more prepared now. I've told dh he needs to take them shopping and I'll give him a list!

@LLykke1000 because they don't wear shorts in the UK, apart from jogging shorts around the house. They both have t-shirts but ds1s are all dark colours (his choice) which seem a bit wintery. Ds2 has more light coloured ones but probably needs a couple more.

I just buy a few plain white t-shirts from Primark before holiday...they are only a few quid each.

thedendrochronologist · 02/07/2024 21:41

5 pairs of shorts
5 t shirts
3 vest
1 shirt - loud shirts are a thing
2 swim shorts
Trainers
Flip flops
Sliders
Summer shoes
8 pairs of pants
8 sock
Short pjs
Cap
Backpack
Man bag
Water bottle
Travel in light joggers and a jumper (although you all be hot when you land)

Would you really wear one t shirt for 2-3 days?

aramox1 · 02/07/2024 21:43

Can people not wash clothes on holiday? Especially tshirts!

Comedycook · 02/07/2024 21:45

I don't want to do washing whilst on holiday!

I buy soft jersey shorts and after holiday, ds will wear them as pj bottoms.

DGPP · 02/07/2024 21:50

One pair of shorts and two t shirts per day here

Smartiepants79 · 03/07/2024 16:09

Lots of all inclusive places have dress codes for the restaurants. No shorts is something we’ve come across on several occasions.
