I know the answer to this really but I feel guilty.

I have baby GS 3 times a week whilst dd gos to the gym and has a driving lesson also on one one them days .

I really want to have a whole week to Myself . Well kind off i don't mind baby sitting whilst dd has her driving lesson but that's it for that week. Because I really want to tidy up my house. Give it a good hoover and wash the floors and generally tidy up. Whilst my owm kids are at school. So i can tidy/hoover without anyone under my feet.

I wanted to sort ot before the school holidays. Nut also there's no reason I can't do it in the school holidays.

I know I'm not wrong for wanting to do it . But I feel guilty.

Am I being a mug or a bit selfish.

You're providing free childcare while you have school age children of your own? You're not unreasonable at all, you've been very generous (as someone who has paid for every minute of Monday-Friday childcare she's ever had).

Really you're just talking about your DD missing two gym sessions? That's not a big deal at all.

Neither?

Tell her ahead of time ‘I can’t do X week but will do [1hr] so you don’t have to cancel your driving lesson.’ She can make other arrangements for one week, I can’t see the drama?

And gyms sometimes have creches!
How old is your GS?

Ah yes! The house! We haven't seen pictures in a while.

LadyWhistled0wn · 02/07/2024 17:44

Why would you be selfish? He's her child not yours. Not your responsibility.

Surely someone else can help her or she can find a childminder?

She has alot of mental health issues. The gym is something that's for her to help with the mental health side of things a bit .

There's no one else to help . And a child minder is not an option .

Could you offer to have the grandchild at yours and during his nap? That way you can tidy while he sleeps and your daughter gets to go to the gym. It is a big ask three times a week but if she has mental health issues it could be the thing stopping her tipping over the edge.

DelphiniumBlue · 02/07/2024 18:24

You could maybe have the baby after school, when your own DC are around anyway. So then DD can go to the gym or have driving lessons then, and you get daytime childfree time to yourself. Or ask DD to look after your DC a few hours a week while you do your thing.

I have done much since I decorated couple of the bedrooms. Tidy wise it's a bit of a mess but nothing like it was before I couple probably get the whole lot done in a couple of hours if i got stuck in. But I want to do a deep clean and to it in a relaxed manner.

Will a childminder or nursery be an option going forwards? From September he’ll get 15 funded hours a week.

Doesn't sound like the daughter is working to receive the funded hours?

I loved your home decorating updates!
How did the panelling (in your bedroom?) turn out?

I’m glad to hear you being positive on how quick you can whip things back into order 🙂

I hope your daughter will respect the fact that you need some time for you too.

That’s definitely progress and that’s all down to you and your hard work when you made a massive effort into sorting your house out!
Well done you!
It honestly is so pleasing to hear you taking a positive view on things 😀
