Swimming changing room question

No adults getting changed, just children all age 4, 5, 6ish.

Private pool just for the purpose of swimming lessons.

Should children change in the changing room for their sex, or their parents' sex. Ie mother helping 4yo boy should they use the female or male changing room?

Parents sex. Under 8s are advised to change with their parent. Although if it's all small children and no naked adults then it probably doesn't matter which.

I always used to take my ds in the ladies when he was little. It seemed more appropriate than me going in the men's.

Thanks. That's what I was doing. But then a girl commented on boy in her changing room, and made me think, why am I not helping him in the male changing room given no naked adults?

But then don't know how people would feel with situation reversed ie a dad helping a girl in a female changing room, don't have girls so haven't considered.

If there's no family changing facilities then yes they go into the changing room that matches the sex of the grown up with them.

Pools normally have a cut off for under 8s.

If no adults are getting changed, and each child is with a parent, I’d say whichever changing room has the most space!

I understand this is the set up in public pools/ even private pools with adults changing, the cut off being 8 etc.

But if a girl has commented on a boy being there (and therefore may be feeling uncomfortable with it), is there any drawback to mother helping boy in the male changing room when no adults are changing?

What about parents with one of each?
