Hospital telephone appointments

I have 6 monthly appointments with my consultant and for the past 18 months have had them over the phone as the hospital that I have to travel to is a 6 hour round journey and most of the time the appointment is just how are you, keep you on the same dose etc.
This time the consultant wants to see me as I have not been seen in person for so long.
So now my mind has gone into over drive as the last time I was told I needed to be seen in person I was told I had cancer.
Is it procedure that consultants must see the patient in person every so often?

yes it'll be you've got to come in once every couple of years - unlikely to be bad news.
