How do you make a beach day enjoyable (and sun safe) with no loungers etc?

We've always gone to hotels with pools in the past which is why this is throwing me! We know the resort well and the public beaches are lovely but it's either people with cars packed full of stuff or people basically laying on a towel.

Any genius tips? 15kg luggage allowance, what can I bring?

Buy a parasol/a beach tent when you arrive, I find they’re usually cheap in beach resorts and you can often find a fellow beach goer who is happy to have them when you leave.

Buy cheap beach umbrella or rent one, large beach towels, take 4 stones for weighing towel down, water, hats, fruit.

We buy a parasol at the resort although some years we've had to leave them behind. (if we stay in a hotel we always manage to get one for free as so many guests leave them behind)

Otherwise does the beach have any public sunloungers? If so I'd budget for those.

We also have a beach tent that we take with us and fits in our suitcases for the dcs to sit in

That sun tent is exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

The apartment website says they arrange free sunbed rental at the beach, but we were there last year and everyone's set up looked homemade.

We tend to go early and late, to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Inflatable beach loungers are amazing!
Not the ones where you have to run around trying to fill them with air but the ones with a tiny rechargeable pump. They are ready to go in just a minute or two.
