I used to be rock n roll (lighthearted)

…now I’m reduced to my own personal kitchen mosh pit listening to Nine Inch Nails while trying to get as much tidied up/ as much laundry folded as possible before someone reaches overtired. I had 2 glasses of wine so not out of the question that that would be me.

Am I alone?

ps: please drop me track suggestions, not necessarily NIN

I like cleaning to Static X

bostonchamps · 29/06/2024 18:55

I had a bath party (for one) with Incubus this morning, and then I walked the dog with SOAD.

Favourite of mine is to hang the washing out to RATM.. F*#K you washing basket, I won't do what you tell me! 💪

Any household chores goes quicker with Pantera's Vulgar Display Of Power 😁

Blarn · 29/06/2024 19:20

I am going to see Amyl and the Sniffers later this year. I think I will be keeping out the way at the back.

I have been listening to a lot of Soundgarden and QOTSA this week, while working in my serious civil service job. I think I used to be cool!

I had a twelve year old (he wasn’t actually twelve but he was very young) tell me that I probably wouldn’t have heard of them, but his favourite band atm was Black Sabbath. He also asked me whether I knew who Lemmy was and did I know Dave Grohl used to be the drummer in Nirvana.

The only reason I didn’t take one of my boots off and beat him around the head with it was because I’d sneezed funny and hurt my back and it would have been a bugger getting the laces done back up. Little shit.

Emotionalsupporthamster · 29/06/2024 21:13

@bostonchamps Yes! A bath party sounds like a fantastic idea. I need to get me one of those.

Thanks for the recs - I got a bit of Rage and SOAD on before bedtime hit and now I’ve run out of steam 😁. Hadn’t heard of Amyl and the Sniffers before @Blarn but having listened to a couple of tracks they’re up my street too.

How could you be cool enough to know all that AND old? You must’ve blown his young mind!

NIN has been the soundtrack to my life since PHM. Never fails, whatever the situation.

Curlewwoohoo · 29/06/2024 21:20

I was supposed to be at Pearl Jam right now - sad times

BraveFacesEveryone · 29/06/2024 21:21

I do my washing up to Falling In Reverse usually, and I’m currently obsessed with Creeper, can’t wait to see them again this time in two weeks.

Can't beat cleaning like a mad woman to a bit of Metallica. Or, Alexisonfire.

I used to lead such a cool, hedonistic rock chic life. I am now ready for bed with my cat on my lap at 9.22pm on a Saturday night!!

Oh LOVE a bit of Alexisonfire. Saw them a couple of years ago, absolutely amazing live too.

JKnight09 · 29/06/2024 21:26

Did a deep clean of the kitchen cupboards while listening to Rancid and SOAD last week end.

sallyrhubarbbb · 29/06/2024 21:26

@BraveFacesEveryone I've seen them quite a few times now (they keep doing a 'last tour' 🤣) and they just keep getting better!

EstellaWaitHereForMe · 29/06/2024 21:29

Get some Bad Omens on - start with the death of peace of mind - and maybe spend some alone time looking at videos of Noah Sebastian 😎

Now, I admit I'm not a rock chick but have you listened to any City & Color? The acoustic act of Dallas Green?

sallyrhubarbbb · 29/06/2024 21:59

@WinterKate I have! Huge fan 😍

Diversion · 29/06/2024 22:06

Making bread whilst listening to Lamb of God is quite theraputic 😀

TrappedInALift · 29/06/2024 22:07

Thanks to Spidey and his Amazing Friends, my 5 and 7 year old DS regularly ask to listen to Fall Out Boy. They weren’t my favourite, but I’ll take it.

They both had a sulk last week because they weren’t old enough to come with me and DH to see the Foo Fighters 😂
