So itchy I don't know what to do

I've been itchy day and night for the last 6 weeks or so. All over my tummy (which is large and wobbly) and specifically where there are stretch marks, the skin is so itchy and has gone a shade of purple brown which is horrific. Under arms as well are itchy like mad. I'm in the itch scratch hell, though I know I shouldn't scratch. I've tried different emollients and anti itch creams but it just doesn't go away. I know I should go and see a GP but just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced this. I know it could be heat rash, fungal rash but then Googling is also bringing up all sorts like liver problems or cancer.

Maybe I need a kick up the bum to see the GP.

In the meantime have you tried an antihistamine?

Please go and see your GP as soon as possible. Yes could be something serious but equally (or even more likely) could be something easily solved.

My all over itchiness was caused by iron deficiency anaemia so get tested for that. In the meantime, if you have any ice packs/ cool packs in the freezer, using these to cool the skin can be quite soothing - at least temporarily! (Obviously, don't apply direct to the skin - use an towel or similar to wrap it up in)

Get checked out by GP. In mean time try a cool oat bath? Put rolled oats in a sock, run the bath through it, tie the top of sock and squeeze/rub on itchy bits while you soak. Pat dry after. Helps eczema and chicken pox here so might calm the itch for you?

DH and I have had itchy rash-y skin problems all year, finally he saw a GP and I chatted to a great pharmacist, we're both now sorted.
Mine (facial) was fungal, got a great cream for it, this is more common where there's more hair follicles (eybrows, upper lip). Doesn't sound like this is what you have.
His (body, legs, unsightly) we don't know the cause, but sorted since he started using hibiscrub (boots, superdrug) as body wash in the shower a few times a week + a steroid cream. Dr also said get anti itching cream as DH had scratched so much in his sleep skin was broken, which meant he couldn't use steroid cream immediately.
Best of luck to you, it's awful!
