IPhone newbie - Family link

My db has given his old iPhone to my dd (11). As we have been an android family since the dawn of time I am lost!

I have upgraded to an iPhone 13 so that I can control her phone via a family link. I have googled how and the info out there says the best way to set up dd's IPhone is to do it via mine with an under 13 setting as it offers more protection. Will I still be able to allow Snapchat on her phone? She already has this on her android. I have added it in the last couple of months with a very small time limit. Worried that as its an over 13 app I won't be able to download it, and obviously be the worst parent ever!

I have asked friends who have iPhones with their kids of the same age and they all replied they didn't use the family link and don't restrict their kids phones! Feel like a dinosaur...

I don’t know huge amounts but We have ours set up so we have to approve every app dd downloads - we allowed her to have Snapchat when she was 12 and the phone allowed it.
We have her true age set in the phone as it wouldn’t let her use Apple Pay until she turned 13 and it wouldn’t let us override this.

Sounds like it will work then! Thanks for this. I don't know one end of an iPhone from another but getting there slowly.
