Azathioprine - Stomach Pain

Hi,

Has anyone taken azathioprine and had severe stomach pain? I started it last week and upped the dosage to 100mg as per doctors instructions but since then my stomach has been very sore and I have been vomiting. Is this a common side effect of the medicine? How long will it take to pass? Thanks

I’ve not taken Azathioprine for years, but took it for a decade. I did not have stomach pains. However, pancreatitis is a potential serious side effect and I’d strongly suggest you get it checked out as soon as possible.

I’d say you should consider stopping taking it if you have been vomiting, and cal 111 to ask for advice. Get back in contact with the prescriber as soon as practicable.
