Driving from south coast to near Edinburgh for a family holiday, got 2 primary aged kids in the car so we’re thinking of doing an overnight in a cheapish hotel to split the drive overnight. Driving up the M1(A1) - has anyone done this and/or can recommend a place to stop that’s about half ish way?🤞🤓

We do Winchester to Edinburgh regularly and if only one driver then break the journey overnight at either the Travelodge at Ferrybridge services or the Premier Inn just up the road from them, whichever is cheapest. We usually pay at most £35 for a room. It’s about halfway for us, both hotels are clean and beds are comfy (premier inn beds probably the comfier of the two).
