I’ve just been to Tesco and got everything. My meal plan below - lots of summery food 🙂 Tell me what you are having? I love a meal plan thread

Leek and cheddar orzotto
Wraps with tempura prawns, avocado, rocket
Bean quesadillas with lime butter sweet corn
Roast chicken with wild rice salad and tenderstem broccoli
Left over chicken and rice somehow
Tomato and roast pepper pasta sauce on fusilli
Cheesy beans on toast

Puddings: strawberries and cream, Greek yogurt with blueberries and honey, ginger cake with Greek yogurt

Also to make: homemade nut and coconut granola, courgette and cheese muffins for lunchboxes

I cannot imagine meal planning for an entire week. Is there no spontaneity?
I kind of decide the night before, or even on the day. I mean, what if it gets to Tuesday and you don't fancy what's on the meal plan? What about a last minute urge for take-out?

Ooooh sounds lush! I love threads like this too (although baffled by the first response 😆)

We've got loads of summery stuff and it's just started fecking raining again but I'm doing it anyway

  • Mango chicken salad
  • Mediterranean veggie tray bake with sea bass
  • Vietnamese style claypot cod (ca kho to)
  • Courgette and lemon risotto
  • Lamb, spinach and feta spanakopita
  • Pulled chicken tinga tacos

And Saturday night is always "filth night" where one of us gets to pick our filthy meal that throws calories, carbs and caution to the wind - so it's french dip sandwiches tonight.

I want all of this too. Bloody love spanakopita

I don’t assign days to my meals, but am busy and like to get almost all the food in one go. I do a tiny shop mid week just for milk and salad

I haven't really done a meal plan - it's meant to be DHs job because he's retired and I'm still working.... So it doesn't really happen 😞. He also does most of the cooking so it can be a bit hit and miss what we have.

Tonight we're having stir tried veg and noodles with Chinese flavoured belly pork. Tomorrow is chicken fricasee with rice and peas. Probably sausages, mash and cabbage on Monday. Tuesday my shopping delivery arrives and we will be having another stir fry, with duck this time. Wednesday should be a liver and bacon casserole with mash and green beans. Perhaps boiled Gammon with onion sauce, mash and cabbage on Thursday and then ham (cold gammon) egg and chips on Friday.

There's nothing particularly exotic in there, we do like all sorts of food but thinking about it is a bit of a chore at the moment.

I don't like to menu plan, but have (at least 2 with Autism) and they need a visual idea of what we are eating. So this weeks

Saturday - Asda 'Panko' takeaway
Sunday - Roast pork/chicken
Monday - Fried Roast Pork (leftover)
Tuesday - Cottage Pie
Wednesday - Chicken Wings
Thursday - Meatball Pasta
Friday - Help yourself from Freezer/leftovers.

But I keep all the food we eat regularly in the house, so we can cook most things if suddenly we don't fancy what been put on board.

We normal do a plan that is

Sat - Decided on the day
Sun - Normally something that takes longer to cook
Mon - Leftovers
Tues Chicken
Wed Fish
Thurs - Pasta
Fri - Freezer/leftover

GreyDuck · 29/06/2024 16:36

Veg sausage and sweet potato bake
Peach and chickpea curry
Ratatouille
Baked potatoes and lentil chilli from freezer
Homemade sausage roll, mash and veg
Lamb stew

Not very seasonal. It's grey and rainy here just now.

Some great ideas on here! I also love a meal plan thread.

Meal planning saves money and stress when you have a family to feed. We have 4 kids. I miss the days when I could be spontaneous 😭

Isseywith3witchycats · 29/06/2024 17:33

having just filled up the chest freezer with all sorts of food my meal plan this week is to go to the freezer open the lid and decide that nights dinner based on what i fancy lazy cat that i am when it starts getting down in levels then i become more creative

thefamous5 · 29/06/2024 18:34

M - picky bits (hate that term but it describes it!) - nice ham, boiled egged, basic salad, coleslaw, some pork pie etc

T - chilli con carne and rice

W - shredded barbecue chicken in pitta breads or wraps with sweet potato fries and salad

Th - pesto pasta and garlic bread

F - takeaway

Away for the weekend

Sgtmajormummy · 29/06/2024 18:56

I do my meal plan on a Monday so I’ll post mine then.
The change next week is that DD has a school accredited course over 4 days so there will be lunchbox friendly meals/leftovers.
Tuesday will be a birthday celebration for DS and he always gets a jokey “Oh, it’s too hot for baking, here’s a Viennetta.” before the real cake.

About being spontaneous: my meal plan looks like a snakes and ladders board with arrows and replacements at the end of the week, but at least I buy the right amount of ingredients and people know not to scoff the feta that’s earmarked for Thursday’s dinner!

Peach and chickpea curry! I can’t imagine this at all. Have you got a recipe you could share?

I have got three definite things on my list for next week from this thread (the tagliatelle, the panzanella and spanakopita). Hurrah

There are only two of us, but we meal
plan as it saves money and reduces food waste. But there is always something on the weeks menu which can be rolled over to another week if we decide to eat out or something comes up. This week we are having -

Duck Bao buns with rice and tenderstem broccoli
Pepperoni pizza and mozzarella sticks
Chicken Kyiv, croquettes and veg
Chicken kebabs, salad and potatoes
Cauliflower and tofu curry with rice
Gnocchi with pancetta and peas
Chilli con carne with rice

Sgtmajormummy · 30/06/2024 17:20

Here’s ours but, as I said, things can chop and change at any time. I’ve got the ingredients for Nadija’s beetroot and feta pasta, a carbonara and a Banoffee pie which can go anywhere on the plan.

Meal plan this week!
HS1990 · 01/07/2024 07:24

Can't go wrong with stir fry chicken and rice for your leftovers :)

MamaBanana12 · 01/07/2024 07:36

Some really interesting food!!

Mine is
Halibut and scallops with a parmasen & gueyre sauce and asparagus and green veg

Steak with courgetti, tenderstem brocoli mange tout and a sauce

Salmon & seabass in with lemon & chilli, and mixed veggies

Spicy chicken lettuce wraps with halloumi & rocket salad

Charcuterie board with mixed meats and cheeses, salad and balsamic vinegar

Homemade steak burgers in lettuce wraps with mixed veggies

Cauliflower base pizzas with an array of toppings and salad.

I'm having no pasta/potato/rice or bread for the next 4 weeks so it's all meat and fish and veg or cheese. Trying to do a lose keto. 4lbs off in 5 days tho 🙌🙌🙌

Pillowfights · 01/07/2024 08:27

Some great ideas here which I'm noting.

After 30+ years, I am heartily sick of planning and cooking family meals (yes dh does cook) but planning is mostly down to me so some weeks I plan, some I wing it! This is a wing it week but shaping up nicely I think.

Today: tomato & feta puff pastry tarts (made last week & frozen) salad
Tuesday: pesto chicken, parmentier potatoes and salad
Wednesday: chilli from the freezer
Thursday: baked potatoes with whatever toppings can be cobbled together
Friday: potato & chickpea curry again from the freezer
