Anyone else very tired on Sertraline?

I've been taking it for a week, and despite sleeping relatively well at night, I've been sleeping for 3 hours after work for the last 2 evenings.
Last night I woke up at 7:45pm, same again tonight, I put my head down for a bit at 4, woke up at 7.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes! Totally fatigued. I hope it passes, think it’s meant to

Hi Fringebenefits33. I've been on it a couple of months now. I was really tired for the first few weeks, maybe 4 or 5, alongside feeling a bit spaced out at first, but that's all stopped now. It's really helping me with my anxiety and mood though, which started to improve after a couple of weeks I'd say. The side effects do improve, in my experience. Good luck, hope you feel better soon xx

My friend's DH is on this, and he is ALWAYS tired. He has been on 200mg a day for 8-9 months (was on 100 for 6 months prior to that.) He takes propranolol too, for his migraines, so that might be a contributing factor. He sleeps 12-13 hours a night some nights! (And dozes off on the chair after dinner - for an hour - most evenings!)

This happened to my DP when he started to take it. He had to experiment with the best time of day to take it so that he was not falling asleep all evening and it eventually settled down.
It has made the world of difference to his anxiety.
I hope it helps you also.

Take it before bed but also the heat impacts more on Sertraline

Fringebenefits33 · 28/06/2024 22:02

Thank you everyone. I'll try it before bed tomorrow see if that helps at all.

I've been on sertraline about a year. I take it in the morning. If I take it later in the day or the evening it causes terrible insomnia.

I don't generally (long term taker), but when it's been warm weather the last week or so yes Ive felt very very tired.

WaveyGodshawk · 28/06/2024 22:10

Yes I found this as well, the needing to take a nap lasted for about 2 weeks I think.
