Fortnite- an idiots guide please

Hi, after some help. Son wants Fortnite. Apparently he’s the only person in his class without it. I know nothing about gaming so need an idiots guide. Firstly, he has a switch but says he can get it on switch, but I can’t find the game for sale on Nintendo site or Amazon. There’s transformers pack or an anime pack but not the actual game? Also, is it safe for him to play? I’m assuming I can change the settings so he can’t talk to anyone he doesn’t know. Lastly, I’ve heard all about v bucks (think that’s Fortnite?) but I need to make sure he can’t spend money on it. He’s ASD and has no sense of danger or the value of money so these are the most important points. Is there anything else I need to think about or sort out before letting him have it (if I can find it for sale somewhere!) thanks for the help!

Written this and it’s long so short version here, I’m looking for advice on-

  1. how to buy Fortnite for switch
  2. how to stop son talking to strangers on it
  3. how to stop son spending money on it

How old is he? Speaking as someone who has had to teach a lot of Fortnite-obsessed kids - don't even go there!

I know all the dances if that's any use (yard!) I can't believe Fortnite is still so HUGE, it's been around forever, my son (7) even talks about it, we do not have it here but he plays it with his uncle & dad I suspect, sorry for lack of knowledge beyond this

@DaveWatts he’s nine. I know most kids are tech obsessed but I have the opposite issue and he lives outside and never wants to stop or sit. I’d love him to sit and play on the switch for a little while while I cook or if it’s raining! He played minecraft for a couple of weeks but lost interest quickly.

Download it from the eShop, it's free.

You should be able to go into Accpunt settings and restrict spending/turn it off in there.

Communications settings should be in the console settings of parental controls, you might need to download the parental control app first but it might be preinstalled.
