American Fridge Freezer

I know. My life is truly thrilling.

Am looking at an LG one that shows the inside of it when you tap it. Does anyone have this, and is it any good?

I don’t plan on having it plumbed in - does this mean a massive faff in filling up the water for the ice and chilled water, or should I really get a plumber round and get it so that I can have a plumbed in model for the cold water and ice?

And finally, does anyone have a free standing fridge freezer that they love? Please recommend!

We’re in a house that’s new (to us) and the current fridge freezer is both too small, and in the utility room. Hence the need for a new one, which will be in the kitchen.

Mine is awful. The drawers at the bottom of the fridge- supposedly for salad and veg- freeze things. The freezer is vacillating between -5 and minus 15 at the moment. Never know whether the ice cubes are still solid. And I’ve taken to keeping meat in the salad drawers as it’s reliably as cold or colder than the freezer.

I have a freestanding one from Beko although I couldn't tell you the model. It has a larger freezer than fridge compartment and it's my favourite that I've bought with all the extra freezer space

Love ours! Although technically it’s ‘French’ with freezer drawers rather than full height fridge and full height freezer. I think it’s Hisense brand. IMO it’s a faff to get it plumbed in and no faff at all to fill up the water reservoir every so often. We got it during building work too but just cba with the plumbing job.

Love the freezer drawers, makes so much more sense than opening a door, crouching down and rummaging IMO.

I didn't think this existed! The only thing I don't love about mine is that the freezer is slightly too small and we dont need as much fridge space as we have. We have one without ice or water dispenser because I've never come across an ice dispenser that consistently works

I love mine which is Samsung. We completely renovated a near derelict bungalow and put a lot of thought and money into our kitchen. We entertain a lot and need good fridge and freezer space and the fridge is massive. The freezer is a good size but we have an additional under counter freezer too. Ours is plumbed and gets used a lot, we have a built in bean to cup coffee maker too and have to fill it’s water tank manually, I would not choose that if there was the option to plumb the appliance in.

We have a whirlpool. Plumbed for water and ice. Best thing I've ever bought. Loads of space. Kids love being able to get themselves cold water. I've on demand. Loads of space for freezer.

We have an older LG one which has been great apart from the ice dispenser which gets clogged up if you aren't 100% sure to have got all the ice out of the tube each time (the kids aren't great at this). I love the extra space and having freezer shelves rather than drawers. I have mine plumbed in as I like drinking very cold water.

We just got our hisense French style fridge freezer this week. Love the freezer drawers. Like pp says, it's much easier to see everything. Loads of fridge space and a middle drawer that can be freezer or fridge.

love our Samsung one. it's plain silver double width but the top two doors open to a fidge and the bottom two are freezer. about an equal split however the right freezer side is temperature adjustable so can be a fridge too. this was great as a drinks fridge for a party and the double width fridge great for large dishes or platters..
it also has a 'beverage centre with an almost secret door at the front of the fridge storing a filtered water tap and jug that auto refills. inside the left freezer are drawers where ice fills up. large and small cubes.

We have one which is plumbed in and I love having ice and cold water on tap. Would never want to be without one now.

Avoid Samsung though. They have a fault with the motor which has been going on since around 2003 and they still haven't solved. It seems to be random which particular machines get it, but it's an absolute pain in the neck meaning you end up having to regularly defrost it more and more frequently until you give up and buy a new non Samsung one.

Ours isn’t plumbed in and I am pretty lazy and honestly filling it isn’t an issue. It’s got quite a large capacity and once the ice is made it only needs water to refill what we use. I just make it part of my kitchen routine - unload dishwasher, refresh the pet water, check if the fridge water needs filling up. The fridge is as far from the sink as you can get and it’s fine.

I recently brought a Haier HFR5719ENMG 70cm Frost Free Fridge Freezer from Appliance City.

It is great size and plenty of space. I love the freezer drawers.

It doesn't have any ice/water dispensers, but I just put several bottles of water in the fridge which works well for me
