Does anyone know anything about Speedo's swimming strange sizing?

I want a swimsuit from Speedo.

However, I have seen countless reviews on Amazon saying it doesn't fit and isn't just tight, but many sizes too small!

Can anyone explain their sizing to me? Someone who's a size 10 was saying a Speedo women 12 was too small for them.

Had a look on Vinted and there's a lot of posts with 'check Speedo sizing before you order' Confused

I am a Size 12/14 and short. And ideas what Speedo size I am?

Size 16 speedos fit my size 16 longish body perfectly?but I'm average chested - id be a C cup or thereabouts. Maybe the issue is at the smaller sizes or with larger cup sizes?

I'm not sure. People on these reviews seem to be suggesting the sizing is small everywhere

Maybe I will just buy one at the poolside

I find it fine but I wouldn't risk buying online in case they are using Australian sizing which is often on speedo labels. I am a podgy 12 and wear 12 or 14.

Speedo- go by chest size not clothes size.

so if you’re a 38” chest, get a 38. Don’t go for a “size 16” as Speedo don’t size that way. It’s usually a translation by a third party seller as well.

secondly, keep an eye on the function they’re designed for. “Competition” swim suits are designed to fit skin tight to reduce drag. Either size up, or look for leisure/training.

thirdly- “endurance” swimsuits designed to last longer are tight because the fabric doesn’t have the same stretch as standard Lycra.

lastly- find a back shape that suits you. “Power back”, “leaderback”, “racer back” etc may look similar but you will find one that suits your shape better.

but chest size is the important bit.

once you know what you’re looking for it’s easy. I need a 36” leaderback, so narrow it down then pick a design I like.
