I got plans to move to South Devon from Wiltshire after my parent's go. It would have to be a council house swap, as I can never afford to buy; I'm also autistic.
Whenever I mentioned this to other people, I get all the naysayers whinding me up with comments like:
its expensive in Devon (isn't it everywhere? I'm not so stupid I don't already know that!)
We'll miss you. I have friends, but also a lit of 'false friends' who clearly don't understand my autism.
You won't know anyone seems a favourite. Well I'll get out and ruddy meet people won't I? 😡
I'll lose my benefits, no they will move with me!!
Lastly I tried to explain to a support worker my goals, and she started comparing me up with some silly man I know who's moved to another county. Banging on about how he's still not settled blah blah. I'm not him! Just because he's not satisfied, doesn't mean I am.
I've also been told not to leave it too late, as it apparently gets harder as you get older. Rubbish! I know somone in his 90s who moved, no problems at all.
Salisbury has nothing really to offer me now, It has been transformed from historic market town to God's Waiting Room.
Just want some advice without being judged, thanks.
