Which Premier Inn in London?

Hi hoping someone can advise please because I am driving myself mad.

We are going to London Friday - Monday in October. Arriving by train into Kings Cross.

We have two shows booked for the Friday night and Sunday matinee. We're going to the Tower of London and then general sightseeing bits on the Saturday.

Which Premier Inn would be best? I'm looking for a central one with a tube station and some food places close by.

I've spent ages trawling their website but then I forget which is which and I'm back to square one.

Thanks in advance.

The one in Hampstead (just opposite Belsize Park tube) is lovely - it’s been refurbed recently. Straight up the northern line from Kings Cross (about 10 mins), although it does mean getting 2 tubes to the Tower of London. It’s also in a gorgeous neighbourhood with loads of nice cafes and restaurants.

The one by King's Cross! We always stay there...get off train, 5 minute walk. Plus you can leave your bags there. There's also a Premier Inn Hub .

Southwark

The one in County Hall by the London eye is really nice.

I stay here too as they will store bags before check in/after check out. Drop off bags when arriving and pick up just before getting train home. Avoids carrying luggage on the tube. Coal Drops Yard close by with numerous nice shops and restaurants.

If your shows are in Leicester Square /Covent Garden how about the one in Leicester Square? It's 15 minutes on the Piccadilly Line from Kings Cross. Either a 40 minute bus ride from the hotel to the Tower of London passing St Pauls Cathedral and Monument or tube changing at Embankment .

Drury Lane

We liked London Bank (Tower), Tower really close by and lots of places to eat nearby.

If you're on a budget then Wembley can be cheap and on good tube lines

Agreed - I've stayed in this one and seen rooms for friends that have stayed there too. Good location and right on the river.

I like St Pancras, opposite the British Library - you can see it from Kings Cross, they keep luggage after checkout, it’s really quiet inside the rooms and you have choices of tube at Kings Cross St Pancras or Euston Square, so all lines readily available. Probably a bit cheaper than the ones in the West End.

PilgorTheGoat · 28/06/2024 14:12

We stayed at the St Pancras Premier Inn and it was absolutely fine. It would be good to have a base for your luggage near the train station so you don’t need to factor in carrying extra bags around with you. Kings Cross St Pancras tube station is on a lot of lines so it’s easy to move around from there.

I've stayed at the County Hall and Farringdon ones before, really rate them both.

blue345 · 28/06/2024 14:43

I stayed at the Leicester Square one and the rooms were tiny, pretty much just the bed size.

purplecorkheart · 28/06/2024 14:44

Have stayed in the County Hall one and was very impressed with it. Good location.

ASighWasMadeOfStone · 28/06/2024 14:47

My PI of choice in London is always Stratford, especially now there's the Elizabeth line.
It's right above Westfield so ant chain store shopping you can do without battling Oxford Street. And Jubilee Line up into town is great.

Otherwise I like the Southwark one for the same reason-Jubilee line links

I've stayed in the Greenwich one but that's a schlep even though Greenwich is lovely. The PI was ancient though, really in need of a refurb.

BarrelOfOtters · 28/06/2024 14:48

The county hall and Westminster ones are both very good.

Also, the king cross one, loads of places to eat round there. Good tube connections.

Iliketulips · 28/06/2024 15:00

We stayed at the Premier Inn London Bank Hotel (it's in their Hub range but quiet, clean and enjoyed breakfast). It's sandwiched between two tube gardens. Admittedly you'll need to walk east about 5 mins for food, but there's plenty of eateries going towards the Tower Bridge side (we found a great curry near Weatherspoons. However, lots of sandwich takeaway places very close to accommodation. If you're the sort that don't mind walking, we walked to Covent Garden, then onto Westminster and back along the river one day (the river walk is nice at night with everything lit up).

RoseMarigoldViolet · 28/06/2024 15:17

I would also recommend the King’s Cross one. Very handy to leave your bags there. It is also walking distance to the West End if you are an ok walker. About 20 minutes walk.

mrstea301 · 28/06/2024 15:37

We've stayed in Farringdon the last two times we've stayed in London - really handy to get around, right next to St Paul's and feels really safe walking about at night! Handy for Farringdon / Barbican / Blackfriars / City Thameslink stations and plenty of places for food and drink nearby! It's also walking distance to the Globe and to Borough Market.

Thank you all so much. I hadn't actually thought about having luggage with us on the Monday 🤦🏻‍♀️ so sounds like Kings Cross would be useful.
