M&S? Boots? Superdrug? Big supermarkets? If you were size 28 then you might need a specialist retailer but surely 16/18 should be catered to on the high street? unless you're exceptionally, 6'2" type tall I guess.

I'm a 16/18 and 5ft 10 and high street tights are way too short and uncomfortable

Have you tried ASDA tights in XL? I am 5'9, size 16-18 and these are the only high street brand that fit me.

My daughters are both 5'8" and slim but often need XL in other brands purely for leg length. It seems like most manufacturers will allow you to be a little bigger than average, or a little taller, but not both at once.
