Why does solicitor want a key?

I did email them to ask why they want it, I’m about to sell a property (probate) and they’ve asked for a key. I’ve arranged the estate agents and house clearance so I just don’t know why they’d need to get in!
Hopefully they’ll let me know this morning as I’m about to go away for a couple of weeks…

So what was their reply?

They said it was to meet with estate agents and check the property for post once a month.
Baffling really as I did say I was organising house clearance, estate agents and that a requirement of the probate insurance was that I check the property once a month for post so I’ve been doing that for a long time anyway. They know that because anything that needed paying post wise has always been scanned over to them.
I haven’t given them a key.

How did you find this post, I made it a while ago 😂
