Help get DS16 a job

Anyone have advice how a 16 year old gets a job. He’s on summer holidays from school, o can’t cope with weeks of him lying about the house.
he’s applied to supermarkets, McDonald’s, all big companies, gone to local independent shops/chippies, not even getting an interview. I feel we are missing doing something, never thought it would be this hard.
any advice?

Ask his friends to ask in their workplaces for him as they'll be working in places that hire teens. Also check his voicemails as smaller places like cafes are often old school and often phone up to offer interviews.

good idea about voicemail, he probably doesn’t check, I’ll ask

It is really difficult. My DS started doing off jobs for friends, some babysitting. My DD started waitressing and washing dishes in a small pub.

Is he continuing with education after the holidays? If not might be better interested in an apprenticeship particularly with a large employer?

Could try summer camps for younger children etc?
My DD is 15 and will be volunteering with one this summer with the aim of getting paid work in future years.
