Is it doable with a family? Do you still get time for a life? Is time off hard to get? Is it a liveable salary? How hard is it to adjust to shift work?

thank you

I think it depends on your support system. I work nights and I can do it because my husband is home with my kids overnight and they are either with my husband or in school/use the school bus on my sleeping days.

I think you would need the help of a partner or dedicated grandparent for shift work even if you use paid for child care too. I think it would be tricky to do shift work with only paid for child care as it can start very early or finish very late.

I like being out of sync with the 9-5 people e.g. today - quiet house to myself (and I have not been at work last night) but if you love constant company you might not like being out of sync with others.
