Is Cromer in Norfolk a nice place for a summer holiday?

Is there enough to do for kids, a one year old and a ten year old. Is it pretty or just ok?

We have been round the block deciding where in the U.K. to go!

Cromer is lovely and would be a really good base for a holiday. It has amusements, shops, crazy golf etc but isn't big and tacky.

From there you can easily do a day out on a boat on the Broads, a day in Norwich (castle is good us loads of nice food places, shops, large market). Great Yarmouth is about 45 minutes which has a theme park, tons of tacky shops and candy floss etc.

Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall are nice NT properties within 20 mins.

Further north, the beaches at Wells and Holkham are huuuge.

Happisburgh (20 mins) is fantastic for fossil hunting, as is West Runton (5 mins away).

Bewilderwood is a good fun day out too

Yes would be lovely

I thought Cromer itself was awful, but that the coast along from there as you headed beyond Sheringham was lovely.

depends what you like
i find Cromer marginally ‘kiss me quick’.

Wells Next to the Sea is nicer IMO - nice sandy, beach, v pretty town, much closer to Holkham which is great to visit, plus the woods behind Wells beach are full of rope swings and great climbing trees. Lots of free fun

Agree with above poster that Cromer isn't great. Wells is lovely. The 28656,0000 steps to the beach and looong lines everywhere cemented my dislike of Cromer.

We live in Norfolk and go to the coast all the time. Personally I don’t really understand the love for Cromer. The beach is all pebbles and just not nearly as nice as Winterton or Caister for example. It’s okay for a day out. Our favourite seaside place is actually Southwold, in Suffolk but we often stay at Haven in Caister as it’s a really good location to get to all the places along the coast and days out etc and it opens up to a lovely bit of sandy beach.

Must be decidedly average given theres a Diamond Resorts hotel there.

Yes it is, a lovely place to stay and base yourself to visit loads of places in North Norfolk. We go with a big group of friends every year to Manor Farm camping. It’s probably our 10th year🤪the kids love it and it has great special memories for us all.
over the years Cromer has got even better.
