Help me find this children's book

In primary school (late 80s, early 90s) we read a book as a class. I think it was a short children's chapter book.

It was about a group of children who make a den/ clubhouse in a tree hollow they find one day. They furnish it with little curtains. I don't remember anything else!

It sounds very like Enid Blyton's Hollow Tree House - where 2 children run away from their abusive aunt and live in a hollow tree in the woods. They have a wealthy friend with a little dog who brings them food.

I was also going to say Hollow Tree House.

I remember a little dog! And I thought someone had run away but thought I was getting confused.
