So on Etsy on a seller selling pictures I saw this giraffe. My brain has told me I have to have it for the nursery and nothing else will do. DH found it and wan tree s to get it, long story why. Google image search just comes up with the Etsy page which is selling the pictures not the giraffe and a Reddit page asking the same thing with a link back to the Etsy picture page……
Anyone know where I can buy something similar??????

another totally useless giraffe fact: Boy giraffes get girl giraffes to urinate on their tongue so they can assess whether they are fertile.

This giraffe fact is even more useless than @Springwatch123 's fact which at least has some pub quiz potential.

Gargling Urine Helps Male Giraffes Work Out Who’s Up For Some Loving

It started out with some piss, how did it end up like this?

Talking of ''Wicker''...It reminded me of the creepy ''Wicker Man 1960's film...with one of the ''sexiest scenes'' ever according to my old Lodger!

Giraffes have such beautiful faces in real life.

justasking111 · 01/07/2024 00:09

Ebay has dozens of giant giraffes. My grandson has one. Very cute

juniorspesh · 01/07/2024 11:42

We have the Melissa & Doug one! It's great quality. It's also in my office right now and it's quite a good addition to Zoom calls.

Useless fact - giraffes have the same number of bones in their necks as humans.

Edited

That must be one long bone.

justasking111 · 01/07/2024 13:37

My son won a Melissa and Doug white tiger 15 years ago aged 8. My grandchildren love him now. Husband wants to bin it. Over my dead body I said

BobandRobertaSmith · 01/07/2024 15:03

The Melissa and Doug giraffe also comes in rainbow colours.

We had a life size tiger from Hamleys as kids that is currently on its third generation of DC. It has an internal metal frame so you can climb or sit on it. As cute as a decorative giraffe would be, maybe something similar or a rocking giraffe or a giraffe seat or shelves or lamp would be more practical in the long run? The last thing you need when your house fills with toddler toys is a giant wicker giraffe that isn’t fun or safe to play with just sitting in the corner gathering dust and taking up floor space 😂

This one looks cute:

Steiff have gorgeous animal rockers (no giraffes) if you can run to £650!

Not a giraffe but I love this bargain price alpaca!

I wish I'd never looked at this thread. It's full of stuff that I really want but have zero need for. and worse makes me look like I am a 10 year old.
plus the Fenwicks link led me down a Jellycat wormhole where I wanted everything.

I think I should really live in a luxury large soft toy department.

WoolyMammoth55 · 01/07/2024 16:02

We have this H&M one linked upthread and it's very lovely IRL and has withstood being ridden around by it's owner very well:

Bollocks picture would help. Tried to edit to add.

I’d be really careful with large decorations such as this. It’s all good until baby becomes mobile and while little their strength can be uncanny and most examples posted would easily topple over. I’m not even talking about when they start walking and use things to pull themselves up but even with commando rolling, and crawling they may achieve toppling such a thing over and once they realise it’s ’out of bounds/no touch’ it will be the only thing they will want to do. It will become a huge pain in the arse at that point trying to put it places baby and toddler can’t get to - and not an easy size to stick somewhere ‘out of reach’

Really tricky to dust anything with that wicker/ sea grass texture. I'd suggest aa wooden option or something with a washable cover. And stable or able.to be fixed in place as a toddler would be likely to pull on it or try to climb it.

Conkersinautumn · 02/07/2024 09:01

I did not mean to quote that! Sorry!

I saw a wicker one on the homewares floor of libertys in London about a week ago. looked to be about 4 ft unless it was on a ledge or something that I didn’t notice

BigWordAtlas · 02/07/2024 13:56

Agree with others - it's not AI, it's wicker-printed fabric.

This is the only wicker giraffe I could find: https://www.potterybarnkids.co.uk/giraffe-shaped-wicker-basket

@BigWordAtlas the Etsy seller/owner of the original picture confirmed it was AI

As someone who had a jungle nursery and became VERY insistent it needed a giant giraffe whilst pregnant...don't do it OP 😂 it looked very pretty but then literally collected dust and when the kids were bigger, got knocked over lots. I gave it away in the end after getting frustrated with "buyers" when trying to shift the thing!

Some of the storage options shown here are a really nice way to get the aesthetic. The giraffe is very lovely looking!

ZoomRaider · 02/07/2024 19:41

Not cheap unfortunately but they had these in yellow or white on Amazon?

This is where this thread has lead me - to a giant gorilla sofa.

https://dreamingartsus.com/gorilla-sofa/

I REALLY want this

even though
It is very very chavvy and looks like it's out of a footballers wives jungle room
I have no where to put it
It wouldn't fit with anything own

and I know I'd tire of it very quickly.

but man I want one.

This too shall pass.

I read your thread @TimeGoesBySoSlowlyForThoseWhoWait when you posted and then couldn’t believe it when I saw this yesterday in Liberty. A wall giraffe so perhaps without the inconvenience of the giraffe @Thebigfriendlymoth had! Out of stock online so must be last one in the store. £995 reduced to £300…
