Put the fan on let the air circulate and switch it off. My bedroom was horrible when I first came to bed so I put the fan on. My street stank of weed earlier but they are probably all in bed now.

Haven't been able to sleep here because of the heat too. It's like a furnace in here! 5.42 am and not a wink of sleep. I hope you managed to get some OP!

CalicoPusscat · 25/06/2024 05:50

I couldn't sleep because of illness so I've been up all night. Don't want to take strong painkillers as I might fall asleep and I have an appointment at 11am.

Where are you in the UK that it's so hot?

In the Midlands

It's very muggy here we have had so much rain the ground was soaked now we are in a tropical nightmare (I live near a marsh too)

I only got two hours of sleep last night too. Partly the heat and partly struggling with stomach pain (a new and unwelcome middle age thing).

Hope you eventually got off OP

CalicoPusscat · 25/06/2024 06:54

@Nobbynolox thanks:)

Do the neighbours smoke outside? Can't see anything wrong with asking them to keep it indoors if they are

In the South East. We always get the hottest weather. I think I was born in the wrong country. Should have been Scotland! Grin
@CalicoPusscat and @LostittoBostik I hope you both feel better soon.

They smoking weed. Yes outside they smoke it on their patio area so close to the house.. it comes in my house quite strongly I hate the smell so much and it gives me a head ache. It's bad enough through out the day. But at least I can shut my door when I smell it. Late night/early hours when I'm in bed when it's boiling hot o really don't want it in my bedroom

Can you run a cold bath and lie in it? It will chill you right down, and then you can close your window so the weed smell doesn't waft in. A bowl of ice in front of a fan (or a frozen water bottle) apparently works well too. Hot nights are the pits.

Ginmonkeyagain · 25/06/2024 07:28

How the fuck is it 29 degrees in your bedroom over night, it wasn't even 29 degrees outside at the height of midday yesterday.

I am in London and our flat is about 21 degrees right now.

Are you following hot weather protocol? Open all your doors and windows early in the morning, then close all windows and curtains/blinds during the day and them open it all up again in the evening. That is the best way to keep your house cool.

I can't do this because my neighbours are constantly smoking weed.

I'm in a new build. The insulation is pretty good I think may be why its so hot.

New builds can be a bit of a pain. Our flat is a solid thirties block so stays pretty cool.

At least try and ventialte very early in the morning - say 5.30am - hopefully your neighbours aren't smoking weed then?

I'm not getting up at 5.30 😅

They do smoke early though i open my door 6.40 and they are out there by 7am smoking it. Not always that early but often.
