If you deleted all social media, did your life improve?

I’m considering getting rid of instagram, facebook, twitter, etc

I waste too much time and get depressed at how poor it makes me feel.

Does getting rid of it really make you feel better?

I often delete instagram app and whenever I do I do feel a lot calmer and better.

I deleted my Facebook account about a decade ago but ended up starting a new one (never post anything on it) as our school doesn’t have WhatsApp groups but each class has a Facebook page, and it’s good for community stuff eg buy nothing sites, local events

I get so much value out of instagram and learn so much, plus I do the social media for a local charity, so don’t feel I can actually full delete. I can’t control the scroll though!

I had no problem at all deleting TikTok, zero relapse. Had it for a bit in lockdown but it became redundant once insta reels caught up - it’s all the same.

Never did twitter, Snapchat, threads etc.

Really wish I could do without instagram though!! But it’s so good for my hobbies and job, I learn so much from it.

But yes I feel so much better without it.

Also I would put Mumsnet, Reddit, as social media too. But probably not WhatsApp.

I found it a massive benefit to get rid of them. It took a bit of getting used to as it's muscle memory/routine that leads you to opening those apps without any real need or desire to. And other things on your phone may become more enticing, but overall it's a big improvement!
