Hello, my son is 15 and is very autistic, he has been diagnosed and he currently receives higher rate mobility and we have a car because of this, can anyone tell me what happens when he turns 16? Does the car automatically go back? Thanks

My daughter turns 16 next month and we've had letters about changing from DLA to PIP. There is a paragraph which states that the PIP award may be more or less than the current DLA payment or may not be awarded at all and that this could affect other benefits including a motability vehicle.

We can't apply for PIP until after she's 16 and they continue paying DLA until the PIP decision is made.

So it won't automatically go back but you won't automatically keep it either!

I don't know what happens if they say he's not entitled to the car but you appeal.

Thank you, do you know what factors they take into account for motability? Thanks. X
