I'm bored

Gosh it's just before 7am on a Sunday morning ... I'm bored already.

Dishwasher on, washing machine on. I have ironing to do but not a lot else.

Boys are on screens. I start work at 2pm.

We have very little money and both work 6 days a week. I've just started recovering from a period of quite severe depression.

I just don't know what to do with my morning.

How old are the boys? Can you do something with them? Do you have a garden to potter in since it's a lovely morning? A cupboard to empty and organise or other tasks you've been putting off? List some stuff on vinted if relevant? YouTube exercise vid to get you going a bit? Give yourself a mini pedicure/insert minor beauty maintenance? When a reasonable hour, call a friend/family for a catch up?

I know the feeling op. The trick I've found with me is to just do 'something', it doesn't have to be exciting just start somewhere and that makes the rest easier.

Yoga video on YouTube?

followed by a coffee in the sun?

Those are wonderful ideas but just none of them sound appealing. Boys are 6 and 7, one with significant SEN.

The garden definitely needs work but we have zero cash to throw at it. I could power wash the patio and mow the lawn but it just feels like more chores.

Maybe I just need some time off. I'm looking forward to summer hols

If you cut the grass (yep, chore, I feel ya) you could sit with a coffee watching one or both of the boys outside with a football/whatever they like and be glad that that job is at least done? Until the bastard grows again that is 😆

It does sound like some proper time off will be lovely for you. Have you got some time off in the holidays? Anything you are particularly looking forward to? Sorry to throw out questions, ignore me if annoying, as I know people trying to problem-solve when really you just need a moan can be! x

I've got the school holidays off and am really looking forward to it. We don't have money to go away but will camp in the back garden of various family members.

I'm just sat in the back garden. Literally all I can hear is birds. The swallows are going wild overhead as usual. I do love watching the swallows tbf. They tend to use the airflow between the houses as a little race track.

Some of this might be a symptom of the mental health difficulties I've had. I've really been quite significantly poorly.

If you're enjoying sitting in the garden, listening to the birds that already sounds good. I don't think of power washing as a chore though- it's very satisfying!

We found a very cute spider. Problem is we can't really make much noise in the mornings. My village is super sleepy at this time of day. Can't even hear a single car at the moment

Sounds blissful 😊 Enjoy the moment, peace is precious. x

Nice bath, classic fm, nice music, read a book

LetMeGoogleThat · 23/06/2024 08:22

Sounds like you live in the countryside, go for a walk without knowing where. I live rural and it took bloody covid for me to explore some of the lanes with my boys, it's that expectation that you should do something or go somewhere. I love a random wander now.

I've been out and delivered some leaflets for DHs business. Now in the bath.

All lovely but my brain is going... Now what

OP, if you like the birdsong, have you discovered Merlin? It's a free birdsong app and it records and identifies all the birds in your location. You can then hear them indivdually.
It v tender.
Congratulations on starting to feel better. Xx
