.....after a couple of months effort I just cannot take anymore.
It's all absolutely over the place and some utter dross has been regurgitated from long ago (especially on 4extra) and presented as "vintage".

Sorry, Beeb, but I'm off to LBC......I really did try.

YANBU at all. I can't deal with it either and I'm listening to more LBC which would be fine except for the incessant repetitive adverts. And Iain Dale. I can't listen to his whiny brexity voice Grin
I used to have R4 on in the background all day but now it's just irritating me and is it my imagination or are there way more repeated programmes now?

rewilded · 23/06/2024 08:10

Yes YANBU I left R4 a few years ago for those reasons.

Same here. What happened to Monday afternoon quizzes? I keep running into some cultural crap where there used to be a serious legal or medical magazine programme. And the podcasts as radio are so bloody juvenile. I used to have R4 on all day, but now just for The Archers in the evening.

It kept me company all through university and my first couple of jobs, and then after listening to one Any Questions/Answers session one week that Johnson senior was wibbling forth with his ghastly views that would have been outdated in the 1930s decided it absolutely wasn't for me any more.

I occasionally listen to the Archers but only if I'm doing the washing up at the same time.

Have a listen to a few other podcasts - New Scientist, The Guardian, the BMJ. They've really come back into their own.

@EffortlesslyInelegant '...brexity voice...' 🤣 I've never heard the guy but I know - effortlessly - what you mean!
