Has anyone flown from Birmingham airport recently?

Due to fly in 3 weeks, and I keep reading about how long the queues are, due to building work at the airport. We're wondering whether to arrive 4 hours before the flight, rather than the usual 2.
I've googled but can't find anything.

I flew last week, Thu teatime, it was about an hour in security queue end to end. Fast track didn't seem to be worth it. I definitely wouldn't go super early though as they're pretty clear that's exacerbating the whole issue.

DS flew from Birmingham to Seville on a school trip last week. He's a bit vague about time at the best of times, but school allowed 3.5 hours, but they did have 46 teenagers to corral.
